On non-magnetic materials, liquid penetrant can detect surface flaws that would not be seen visually. Penetrant can be of the visible or fluorescent variety in both water washable and solvent removable types. This method can be used on a wide variety of parts in both field and shop environments.Liquid Penetrant is a low cost inspection method where a penetrant may be applied by dipping, spraying or brushing, to locate surface-breaking defects in all non-porous materials.
